The day we've been waiting for!

Granite was installed today.  I was excited to see it today, but a little apprehensive.  What if I didn't like what we had picked out?  It's been several months since I last saw it. 

Well, we both love it!  It's even better than I remembered. 

The granite didn't photograph very well - especially the kitchen granite, but these pictures will give you an idea of what we have.

We're one month away from closing!
Kitchen:

Bar - these photographs don't do this granite justice.  It's a lot darker with a lot more colors than you can see here.  I think the suede finish might be making the granite look a lot duller in the photos than it does in person.:

And the granite in the master bath - same as the granite on the bar.  This has to be my favorite!  These pictures do a little better job of showing the granite.

Monday - 7/25 - Miscellaneous 'stuff'

Yesterday was a plumbing and electrical day with a bit of masonry thrown in.  Toilets, shower fixtures, ceiling fans, limestone, and can lights.

Electrical trim out

The trim is painted, so the plastic came off of everything.  Electrical trim out began on Thursday.  Masonry is almost done, and the stairs to the deck are done.  Granite comes on Tuesday!

We ventured inside

The carpenters were at the house yesterday, so we stopped by today to see what they accomplished.  The deck railing and deck stairs are almost done.  The inside was actually bearable although there was a strong odor of paint and stain.  The door is beautiful, but currently covered in plastic.  The coffered ceiling is incredible...

Staining inside means we're outside

Lots of strong fumes in the house from staining the front door, stair railing, and coffered ceiling to name a few.  We ventured in yesterday, but didn't even try it today.  Instead, I have exciting scaffolding, masonry, and deck steps in progress photos to share.  Okay, they're probably only exciting to Steve and me.

If the coast is clear tomorrow, we'll venture inside.  What we saw of the front door yesterday before we were quickly ushered out was amazing.  Really.

I remembered my camera

A lot has happened over the last few days, I just haven't been as diligent in bringing my camera.  The copper kitchen sink is in; the coffered ceiling is done except for staining; the second garage door has been installed; and the stairs to the deck are underway.  And the best news is, we've only got a little over 6 weeks left!

Unfortunately, the pics of the sink aren't that clear because everything has plastic over it.  Getting ready for painting.
